Surfrider Staunchly Opposes Army Corps Downtown Montauk Stabilization Plan

Gathering with supporters for a photo on the ocean beach last Thursday, October 9, the Eastern Long Island Chapter of Surfrider Foundation launched a protest of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ reinforced dune project in downtown Montauk.




Surfrider, chaired locally by Mike Bottini, said the temporary project, which is slated to begin next year, would further erode the public beach, and that the artificial dune would essentially be a hard structure like those discouraged throughout East Hampton Town. Read Story
